 Types of education

There are three main types of education. Formal education is the structured educational
system provided by the state for school goers. Non-formal education, in contrast, is
refers to education that happens outside the formally-organised school – that is the
education that refers to adult literacy and continuing education for adults. This kind
of education is voluntary. As for the informal education, it is the education that happens outside the classroom. It is considered as integral part of formal education.

Here is aText to extend your vocabulary

Education plays an important role the development of society. It helps people gain and acquire good values that enhance maturity, raise the feelings of responsibility in each individual and lead to the prosperity of the society. There are three forms of education; formal, informal and non formal education.
Formal education refers to the structured educational system provided by the state for children. In most countries, the formal education system is state-supported and state-operated. Formal education is classroom-based, provided by trained teachers and leads to formal certification. It runs from primary school through the university and including, in addition to general academic studies, a variety of specialized programmes and institutions for full-time technical and professional training.
Informal education, on the other hand, happens outside the classroom, in after-school programs, community-based organizations, museums, libraries, or at home. It is a truly lifelong process whereby every individual acquires attitudes, values, skills and knowledge from daily experience and the educative influences and resources in his or her environment — from family and neighbours, from work and play, from the market place, the library and the mass media.
Non formal education, however, is instruction that is not obligatory . It is structured and learned outside the context of a formal school. The term is often used in reference to adult education. In this sense, non formal education refers to education which takes place outside of the formally organized school. Most typically, the term or phrase non formal education is used to refer to adult literacy and continuing education for adults but it does not lead to formal certification.
